    Purrs, Coffee and a Dream
    Purrs, Coffee and a Dream

I grew up in a home filled with the comforting aroma of hot tea β€” but coffee was always part of the background. Every visit to my grandparents’ house meant walking into the rich scent of freshly brewed coffee. As I got older, I found myself sitting in their living room or around the dinner table, sharing laughter and stories over a pot of coffee.

That’s where my love for coffee began β€” not just for the flavor, but for the feeling. Coffee became a symbol of connection, warmth and togetherness.

Now, as an adult, I still start my mornings the same way β€” but with a little extra company. My cat curls up beside me as I sip my first cup of the day, a quiet ritual that feels both grounding and joyful. It’s a small moment of peace that reminds me of those early memories β€” and the simple magic of slowing down to share a moment.

Years later, my child introduced me to the modern side of coffee β€” cold brews, lattes, cappuccinos and creative new flavors. It was then I realized: coffee transcends generations, blending tradition with innovation in every cup.

What began as a simple passion for the craft has grown into a mission to bring people together over exceptional coffee β€” with a focus on quality, sustainability and genuine connection.

    Exploring the World of Coffee

At Purr Kup Coffee Co., we believe coffee isn’t just a drinkβ€”it’s an experience, a connection and a purpose. Every cup tells the story of where it came from, how it was grown and the communities that brought it to life. Whether you’re fueling a big idea, catching up with friends, or simply enjoying your morning ritual, knowing more about your coffee makes every sip even better.

Here’s your crash course into the different types of coffee beans, processing styles and regions that shape the flavors we love.

    Arabica – The Smooth Classic

If coffee had a β€œcrowd favorite,” it would be Arabica. With smooth textures, bright acidity and flavors ranging from fruity to floral, Arabica is the bean behind most specialty brews.

    • Where it grows: Ethiopia, Colombia, Costa Rica, Brazil
    • Why it’s loved: Clean taste, light to medium roasts, perfect for pour-overs or drip

    Robusta – The Bold Kick

Robusta brings the energy. With almost double the caffeine of Arabica, it’s bold, earthy and sometimes nutty or chocolatey. Many espresso blends rely on Robusta for that thick crema and extra punch.

    • Where it grows: Vietnam, Indonesia, Africa
    • Why it’s loved: Strong flavor, dark roasts, perfect for lattes and espresso shots

    Liberica – The Rare Gem

Liberica is a rare bean with a flavor that stands outβ€”smoky, floral, and a little fruity. Its unique taste and irregular bean shape make it a special find for adventurous coffee lovers.

    • Where it grows: Philippines, Malaysia, West Africa
    • Why it’s loved: Distinct, bold and not like anything else on the shelf

    Excelsa – The Flavor Chameleon

Technically a variety of Liberica, Excelsa is all about depth. Think tart, fruity, layered complexity that adds character to blends or shines in a single-origin brew.

    • Where it grows: Southeast Asia
    • Why it’s loved: Adds brightness and fruit-forward flavor to blends

Processing Styles – How the Magic Happens

It’s not just what bean you drink, but how it’s processed that shapes the final taste:

Washed (Fully Washed): Clean, crisp, bright flavors.

Natural (Dry Process): Sweet, fruity, wine-like.

Honey Process: Balanced, caramel-sweet, with both clarity and body.

Around the World in a Sip

Coffee takes on a unique identity wherever it’s grown:

    • Ethiopia: Blueberry and jasmine, tea-like elegance
    • Colombia: Balanced, chocolatey, nutty
    • Guatemala (Antigua): Full-bodied with spice and cocoa
    • Costa Rica: Citrusy brightness with honey sweetness
    • Sumatra (Indonesia): Earthy, herbal, low acidity

    Find Your Coffee Personality

At Purr Kup, we want you to find the coffee that feels like you. Love bold flavors? Try a Robusta-rich espresso. Craving something light and bright? Go for an Ethiopian Arabica pour-over. Into trying something unique? Liberica and Excelsa are waiting for you.

Pro Tip: Try a coffee flight! Brewing beans from three regions side-by-side is the fastest way to taste the differencesβ€”and discover your go-to cup.

    Why We Share This

At Purr Kup Coffee Co., every decision we makeβ€”is rooted in sustainability, fairness and flavor.Β  So go ahead, explore the world one sip at a timeβ€”because coffee is more than a drink. It’s a purpose.
